killamch89
With so many games out there, it feels like certain mechanics that were once innovative or fun have fallen by the wayside. Whether it’s deep environmental storytelling, creative use of physics, or something as simple as a great morality system, what gaming mechanic do you think deserves more attention and should make a comeback in today’s titles? Button
I agree with you on that. I have also seen some of the mechanics overlooked in modern games. One mechanic that I think deserves more attention is the branching storylines with multiple endings.

The advantages of offering this is that it will enhance engagement, and encourage realistic storytelling which is indeed a game changer.

Branching storylines with multiple endings add so much replayability and depth to a game. It makes your choices feel significant and allows you to experience the story in different ways. I like the games that allow players to make decisions that will have impact on the game world.
Button
I think the dynamic soundtracks are underutilized. We have seen games like Ni no Kuni and The Legend of Zelda show how music can definitely adapt to the player's actions.
Scorpion
I think procedurally generated content, like in No Man's Sky, offers endless replay value, but is underexploited..

Sure, I agree that procedural generation has vast potential. Another underutilized mechanic is the branching narratives. This is seen in games like Life is Strange and The Walking Dead. I have seen how music have elevated immersion.
