What linear games would make terrible open worlds?

Recommended Posts

I think games like Uncharted would suffer as open-world games. The series thrives on its tightly scripted sequences and cinematic storytelling, which could get lost in a sprawling open world. The pacing and set pieces that make Uncharted so memorable might not translate well to an open environment.

That's indeed a very good question to ask. I think Portal and Uncharted would struggle as open-world games. That's my observation though 🤔

I agree with you, especially when it comes to Portal. The tight, puzzle-focused gameplay relies on a controlled environment. Expanding that to an open world will dilute its core experience.

That's an impressive point there! Portal's brilliance lies in its carefully crafted, linear puzzles. Opening it up would definitely disrupt the flow and precision as well.
