The Blackangel
RANDOM SPOILERS AHEAD There are a lot of AAA games that are starting to seem like their time is nigh on done at this point. What games have I missed? For example GTA is getting bigger and badder with every angle covered. At least that’s what I gather from everyone. So what is there left that the game hasn’t done? I was never a fan of the series, so I may be completely talking out of my ass there. God Of War has lost a lot of its former glory. It was a great story about a man who was being used and abused by the Gods (how he saw it) and fought back. Now he has kids that he’s working with. YAWN. One that I can comment on is Red Dead Redemption. I’m a little bit concerned about RDR3. Being that RDR2 is a prequel, it seems like R* may have shot themselves in the foot with the series. Unless they try doing background stories of the different characters and how they came to be part of the Van der Linde gang, or pick up where RDR1 left off with Jack Marston, there’s not really anywhere to go from here. I don’t see the origin stories doing anything but flopping. No one wants to take the time to see how Karen became part of the gang. And the Jack Marston angle would end up being a 1920’s gangster style game. Don’t we already have more than enough Al Capone ripoffs? He was 12 in 1907. Then he was an adult when he took Ross down. I guess Jack DID enjoy his fishing after all.
Bizdustry
There are video games and companies with questionable future. I honestly thought that GTA , as an example would venture out of the United States and maybe relocate to London in the UK for their new 6th version. I would have also liked to see them introduce an official role play server that can be access in the online menu, but this hasn’t occurred yet. In my opinion, the GTA's expansive open-world doesn't give enough room for innovation. I would expect a potential reboot or spin-off to help revitalize the series. GameOn
I see some kind of questionable future in games like God of War. The shift from angry demigod to family man really altered its tone. And it has a strong effect on the gameplay.
Lens
The Red Dead Redemption's narrative constraints are worth mentioning. I think it would work if it explored character backstories. You feel me ?
