Have You Ever Played an Unusual Instrument Like the Theremin or Glass Harmonica?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious if anyone here has ever played or heard an unusual instrument like the theremin, glass harmonica, or waterphone. What was your experience like? Did it change how you think about music or sound in general? I'd love to hear your stories or any cool instruments you've come across that are out of the ordinary

I actually play a somewhat rare instrument. I play an aulos. It’s great for playing Celtic style music.

I’m also planning on a keytar in the future as well.

This definitely the first time I've seen this instrument. How long have you been playing it for?

About 6 years if I remember correctly. I haven’t messed with for a while, so I’m sure I’m rusty as hell. But it’s a great instrument once you get the hang of it.

That's pretty neat. I've been trying to think of an instrument that I'd like to learn. I have the guitar or piano in mind - I mean my dad was an excellent piano player but I don't know. I'm more drawn to the guitar.

Not long ago. I’ve always wanted to be able to play guitar, but life got in the way.

I get where you're coming from. What kind of guitar did you choose starting out - an acoustic or an electric guitar?

I started initially with an electric, but since I’m teaching myself now, I’m going with an acoustic. That reason being that I only have a tiny little amp, and it’s actually a bass amp, not a guitar amp. So acoustic is what I’m practicing for now. I do want to learn how to make my guitar squeal like a pig, and scream like a banshee.

I'm leaning towards an acoustic guitar as well.
