killamch89
I’ve been reflecting on how our cultural backgrounds can profoundly impact our musical preferences. From the genres we gravitate toward to the artists we admire, it seems like our upbringing plays a significant role. Do you find that your cultural heritage influences the music you enjoy? What specific styles or songs connect you to your roots?
The Blackangel
When I was little I liked country music. I grew up on a farm, and it matched up with the kind of life I was living. In my teens I lost interest and started gravitating to metal. I always loved rock/metal as I’m a child of the 80’s. Now it’s rap and metal. They talk about the life I have lived since I dropped out of high school. I can relate to these songs, and understand what they’re saying in the lyrics. killamch89

I grew up in a violent neighborhood so hip hop, dancehall, Reggae and Rap all resonated with me from a young age. At some point, Rock and Roll, Soca and RnB got added to the mix as well.
