What's the Most Memorable Feature of the Original PlayStation for You?

The original PlayStation had so many iconic features, from its unique startup sound to the simple but solid controller design. Some remember the groundbreaking 3D graphics, while others recall the variety of memorable games like Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, or Crash Bandicoot. What stands out most to you about the PS1? Was it a game, a feature, or maybe just the nostalgia of popping in those gray discs?

The analog stick was a game-changer, it revolutionized 3D gaming and remains an iconic design that's still emulated today.

For me, it was the transition to 3D graphics. Games like Tekken and Resident Evil showed what gaming could be. Sure, the graphics seem dated now, but back then, they were revolutionary.

The capabilities of gaming being shown about how far it could go. It was absolutely amazing. Their thinking was far beyond what Nintendo was thinking. But they led Nintendo into new ideas and new technical innovations.

And this is why competition is good. As much as I hate Xbox right now under Phil Spencer's leadership, I don't want them to fail because then PlayStation will get lazy and start selling us crap like PS5 Pro for $700.

Spencer aside, I never liked Xbox to begin with. But that doesn’t mean I want them to fail. I’m happy that the major gaming options have 4. Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. That variety makes for greater games. I would love to see other companies make a successful console and put even more variety into the gaming world. I would love to see what exclusives they would come up with.

I agree. The more options the better. The problem is that Xbox for the most part, has stopped making games which really annoys me. It feels to me that Xbox has given up on making quality exclusives because they believe they can't compete even though they have tons of quality IPs sitting on.

Not to mention that one of the most popular games in the world is exclusive to Xbox. They own Halo. Halo is constantly being the choice for tournaments. It’s its own universe and has millions of die hard fans. If Microsoft has given up, they could be looking at losing billions as a result. While everyone already knows that I don’t like ]Xbox, I don’t want to see it fail.
