Kane99
We all know Sony has tried their hand at handhelds, and they were never really able to fully compete with Nintendo and their DS/3DS line of handhelds. Sony tried to make the PSP and than the Vita compete, but it always seemed like Nintendo won the handheld war. Now there are rumors of Sony jumping back into the handheld game, and Xbox finally jumping in, but could they both compete with Nintendo? I feel like they will have an awful hard time to compete, even with the power Sony possesses. Nintendo life put out an article discussing this, you can read about it here - https://www.nintendolife.com/features/talking-point-can-sony-and-microsoft-really-compete-with-nintendo-in-a-new-handheld-war And with a new Switch liking coming soon, do you think Sony and Microsoft can compete? If they both make a new handheld each, can they compete with Nintendo and their possible Switch 2? What do you guys think?
Bizdustry
Of course they can compete. Just like Android and Apple compete for their phones. Both are as good as each other but ultimately comes down to the buyers preference to which brand they prefer to buy. Interesting article to read though, thanks for posting. killamch89
While Nintendo has the experience and IPs to dominate handhelds, I wouldn’t underestimate Sony or Microsoft. The PSP and Vita were ahead of their time in many ways, and Xbox could leverage Game Pass for a truly unique handheld experience. If Sony integrates their PS5 ecosystem into a handheld or if Microsoft creates a device built for cloud gaming, they might carve out their own niches instead of directly competing with Nintendo. GameOn
They indeed have the technology and means on how to produce powerful consoles. If they use their existing platforms such as PlayStation 5 and Game Pass, they will have something new that will capture the players.
Scorpion
I believe competing with Nintendo is tough for Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo's unique charm and exclusive titles give them a strong edge.
