Shortie
Let's say there was a zombie apocalypse in the last game you played and your only way of survival was using whatever was available in the game as a weapon to help you survive, what are your chances of surviving? For me that would be Pet Simulator 99 and my pets would be my only option to save me and I am sure that would not help me a whole lot.
Knight Plug
As with any horror game, you learn to preserve ammo. Especially if it's rare. The thing with RE4, etc, is that they kind of partially skimped on that rule and introduced action oriented gameplay. No longer was ammo really a concern. I mean, it's the polar opposite. You kill enemies and then they gift you extra bullets. So why worry about finding ammo? You see, old PS1 horror type games never really focused on that. You always searched for important key items by looking in rooms. If you needed a key or a password to advance, your goal was to look for it. But in a lot of modern games, you kill a monster to acquire the key instead. Or they have it where you just obliterate a wave of enemies to get a door somehow unlocked. You will probably agree that old RE was the best example of survival horror. But games today are not that scary. You usually just spend the majority of the game having to constantly shoot at stuff. Then to make it a doddle, they actually add numbers on the screen to indicate where the next exit point is. That's just laziness. There was a time when you had to find the exit. And nobody had to depend on numbers or merchants, or stuff that makes the job a breeze. It simply served to ruin the genre, well and truly. But it did improve with RE7, I suppose. So that's a plus. But besides the gameplay, the storylines started to move beyond what they had conceived in the first place. Thus, people noticed that move was questionable and decided it was becoming too far removed from what it is meant to represent. Scorpion
If I were in "Minecraft," I'd craft weapons and build shelters. My chances of survival would definitely improve with strategy!
killamch89
In Skyrim, I'd have magic to wipe out Zombies and there's lots of spells to deal with Zombies so I'd survive quite easily.
