killamch89
Do you think games that require a constant internet connection are a necessary evolution in the gaming industry, or do they take away from the experience? With games like Destiny and The Division relying on online connectivity, some argue it enhances multiplayer and live-service features. Others feel it limits accessibility, especially for those with unreliable internet or those who enjoy solo offline experiences. Where do you stand on this debate? Do you embrace it, or do you wish for more offline options?
Scorpion
I appreciate online connectivity for enhanced multiplayer experiences, but I wish for more offline options. Balance is essential for diverse players.
killamch89
I enjoy multiplayer games as much as the next person, but requiring an internet connection for single-player experiences feels like a step back. It limits accessibility for people who don’t have stable internet or those who prefer to play offline. Even some modern single-player games can feel incomplete without the option to play solo without being tethered to the web, and I think this trend takes away from the traditional appeal of gaming. Anders
I wouldn't say I have a huge problem with having to connect to the internet in and of itself, since I have a solid internet connection at home 99,9% of the time, but what I do have a problem with is that some games that are connected won't let you pause, even though you are playing solo. A great example is Elden Ring. I wouldn't say I have played a ton of Elden Ring, but I did put quite a few hours into it, and I guess because of the fact that you could potentially be joined by other players, it's not possible to ever pause the game. I mean, it's the souls-like experience which isn't for everybody and I do think its dumb that you can't pause a game but it is what it is.
