What’s a lesser-known fact about PlayStation you find fascinating?

Recommended Posts

I’ve recently been diving into PlayStation history and came across some interesting tidbits. For example, did you know that the original PlayStation (PS1) was originally intended to be a collaboration with Nintendo for a Super Nintendo CD-ROM add-on? It’s crazy to think how that partnership fell apart and led to the creation of the iconic PlayStation brand! What’s some other lesser-known fact about PlayStation that blew your mind?

That's fascinating about the SNES-CD partnership! I'd say another lesser-known fact is the PlayStation 1's prototype was almost called "Play Station" with a space due to a licensing agreement with Nintendo, which ultimately changed the spelling.

Another lesser-known fact is that the PS2, which became the best-selling console of all time, actually had a built-in DVD player, which helped push the format’s popularity at the time. Sony’s foresight in adding that functionality gave the PS2 a huge edge over the competition
