For me, it's got to be the emotional depth of Life is Strange - its non-linear storytelling and character development had a profound impact on my understanding of narrative gaming.

Personally, it was The Last of Us. The way the game balanced emotional storytelling with gameplay was revolutionary. The opening scene alone taught me how impactful pacing and character development can be. It showed me that a story doesn’t need constant action to keep players engaged - it needs emotional stakes.
