The Blackangel
What game(s) have a boss in a part of the game that is immensely harder to beat than the final boss in your opinion? One of them for me is in Diablo II. Easily it’s Duriel. It’s harder than Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal. I’m not sure why, but that damn daemon is a bitch to beat. I never had a problem with any of the other bosses. Eventually I had to cheat my ass off, so I started creating armor and items that pretty much made me invincible just to beat the damn thing. It’s a good thing the expansion pack doubled the size of your stash. I put them on when I got to Duriel, and then just put them back in my stash after beating it. Has anyone else come across a boss that was harder that the final one?
killamch89
Duriel is brutal, especially if you don’t have Cold Resistance or enough healing potions stocked up. I think bosses like him stand out because their difficulty spikes forcing you to adapt your playstyle. A similar example is the Shadow Queen in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door - Prince Mush and Bowser are way harder fights in comparison to her as the final boss and who can forget the Nameless King in Dark Souls 3?! Kennysplash
Well I feel these kinds of bosses make it easier for you to fight the final boss quite well. But in cases when the journey has been smooth it will be hard to deal with the boss.

It forces you to not take anything for granted and to constantly strive to get better at the game.
Scorpion
Absolutely! In "Dark Souls," many players find Artorias the Abysswalker tougher than Manus. His speed and agility can be overwhelming, pushing you to the limit before the final showdown with Gwyn.

When I first played it back on the Xbox 360, I remember having a much harder time beating The Butcher, one of the earlier bosses, than actually beating Diablo himself.
