Kane99
I read an article about something a former PlayStation exec said, on how Xbox could be on track to becoming a software only company. You can read the article here - https://tech4gamers.com/xbox-software-only-company/ We're already seeing Xbox games coming to PlayStation consoles. So this would make sense. Especially with their hardware sales as of late not coming close to that of PlayStations. PlayStation's Shawn Layden believes that Xbox is going to go full third party in the future, instead focusing on software over hardware. He believes they're heading down a similar path to that of Sega and how they became a third-party publisher/developer. Do you think that will happen though? I think it could work simply because of the amount of IPs MS owns. If they actually put out more games, maybe then I could see it working. And I suppose they could put more focus on their games rather than hardware. What do you think though?
killamch89 Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:19 AM That's the way it's heading. Nobody is really buying their consoles and pretty much all of their exclusives are now multi-platform games and are on Gamepass as well.
Scorpion Posted yesterday at 05:04 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:04 AM I see your point! With Microsoft owning many strong IPs, focusing on software could be beneficial. If Xbox emphasizes game development over hardware, they might attract more players and thrive as a third-party publisher.
