killamch89
Space technology is rapidly evolving, and its potential applications in military and defense strategies are becoming increasingly prominent. I’m curious about your perspective on how advancements in space technology might influence future defense systems: could innovations in satellite communications, surveillance, and space-based weaponry redefine national security and military tactics? What are the possible benefits and risks associated with incorporating space technology into defense strategies?
The Blackangel
During the Cold War, both Russia and the US launched satellites carrying nuclear weapons in case of an attack. Ours are still in orbit. Until they get so low in orbit that they begin to reenter the atmosphere, we won’t hear much of anything about it. The main reason is because it has become extremely volatile and unstable in the years since it was launched, that we simply can’t figure out how to get rid of it all safely. A single attempt to launch even one of the missiles could trigger a chain reaction detonating all of them at once. The amount of nuclear fallout would cover the planet. The results would be unimaginable.
