StaceyPowers
Anyone here enjoy text-based games? Like MUDs, old Infocom single-player games, etc.
DylanC
Yeah, I like em. Only played A Dark Room on iOS and a few old-school ones on Amstrad way back when. The Zork series should make a comeback on Switch or phones. StaceyPowers
MegaphoneStallone
How does it work? I'm really not familiar here. Is it where you control a character through text, or is this full on RPG forum stuff?

Like you read a description of a room, then you type "northwest" to walk "northwest" to another room, and so forth.
o-o
Like Monkey-Island?

Doesn't sound like my sort of thing - but cool. 1 hour ago, o-o said: Like Monkey-Island? From the description Stacey gave it doesn't seem like Monkey Island at all. Monkey Island you select dialogue via clicking predetermined quotes...Not to mention all the clicking on objects etc you click.
Alyxx
As someone who regurarily play tabletop RPG's over Discord and Telegram I absolutely love text games. StaceyPowers

Yarik
I don't think that I have played any text-based only game. Basically, I don't like to see text only when I'm playing something.

It's hard to beat the graphics engine of the imagination. You can think of the mulitplayer ones (MUDs) as kind of over-glorified chat rooms where the "rooms" are virtual locations with descriptions, all interconnecting into whole lands. You can hang out and talk, create new buildings or landscapes, engage in combat, attempt to take over the world, whatever. Alyxx
I love text adventures since it's similar to when you play tabletop RPG's (at least my kind of games) where you have to imagine a lot of what's going on. StaceyPowers
Joshua Farrell
I haven't played this type of game in ages! I would love to get back into a few different games like this if I knew where to get the games. StaceyPowers
Katri Marcell
I've never played a text based game but if you have any recommendations send them my way. I'm super intrigued to try them out 😛
