And Lovecraft's Untold Stories is one such indie game that can be categorized into that type. It basically takes the character into the stories of lovecraft. And so you get to meet those monsters and creatures from the stories. It can be fun to play this adventure game. Though I'd be more interested in the real life 3D version, i think some stories were really good. Have you checked Lovecraft's Untold Stories?
