The Blackangel
Those that use consoles, do you lay the system down flat or stand them up on end? Personally I stand it up. It saves space and makes more room for other things. Also with more space exposed, it is able to release heat better and avoid overheating easier. kingpotato
Well it depends for me, for example my Xbox is stand because that way it can get more ventilation. For my PS4 is down flat for spacing reasons.
mont86
Stand.. Cause of heat reduction.
skyfire
If you are using some glowing skin on the console. You can consider keeping it up as it looks good. Edited November 22, 2019 by skyfire
ARx182
I prefer to let the console lay. Less chance of it falling. Better safe than sorry. 🙂
DudeThatsErin
I lay the console on its side as that is the only way it fits into my TV stands. Most TV stands are the same way as well.
Wolves
I have a PS4 and I just place it on my entertainment system laying down. It's odd being on it's side to me, but I can see how it would save space in smaller houses or apartments.
killamch89
Any console I've had, I've normally laid flat because I might get a bit clumsy and knock it over. I can probably find another $500 but why would I want spend the same console money twice when I can simply lay it flat to prevent such a scenario
Empire
My PS2 just has its own stand and whatnot anyway that I place on top of the TV, and the TV that I had back then was big and not like how TVs are nowadays. I did not worry about how to play it or standing it or get a stand, it was common sense, to be honest. Seeing people with PS5 and have no idea how to stand it up right, lol
Patrik
For thermal reasons, you have to use it when being stand, you don't only save yourself space as mentioned, but also avoid thermal throttling that has an impact over your console's performance

The Blackangel
Yeah, but if you stand them on end, then you don't have to spend the extra money to buy a cooling pad. Also, in my personal experience, those things don't always do the job and end up adding more heat than they dispel.

Plus, I might get clumsy and just knock it over...
lludawg
I've always stood my consoles up just due to random preference but I had never realized the information about how this helps with cooling. Definitely good to know for future reference. Thanks for the info y'all. The Blackangel
Shole
Always lay, I have cats and dogs so if they play around and drop the console, I can't do much about it. So i rather have it lay down and be safe.
