Crazycrab
Following an extensive enquiry by a committee for the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport the UK House of Lords has now called for Loot Boxes to be reclassified as gambling under the Gambling Act of 2005... effective immediately!: https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2020-07-02-house-of-lords-calls-for-loot-boxes-to-be-immediately-reclassified-as-gambling This is a HUGE win for consumumer advocacy and protection and a massive fuck you to these publishers and their "surprise mechanics". It's not clear right now how exactly this will affect the current or up and coming release classification of titles like Fifa but there is now way they can possibly be rated PEGI 3 anymore! skyfire
I think this is a good move considering it is hard to get the game companies to agree on something from the community side. I hope that this type of the improvement benefits many gamers who are tired of the pay to win approach being normalized.
Demon_skeith
Good on the UK for doing this, now to see if any other country will follow suit, like the USA?
