Control Ultimate Edition disc requires one-time online connection to play on Xbox

Control Ultimate Edition's physical version on Xbox One, requires you to connect to XBL in order the play. Want to know the reason why that is? It's because the physical version of the game is not complete. They had to release an update to include the rest of the ultimate edition, and that's why an internet connection is required early on. So, you will only need to do this once. But, this gives me concerns, because what if the server at some point goes down? Would that game then be locked at that point? At least when it concerns Xbox One consoles.
