bomb
Can players really have strength to play 90 minutes non stop. I really want to know if it is possible. But I doubt it.
Empire
The length of a professional soccer match is 90 minutes, plus additional time added to each half as calculated by the referee to make up for game stoppages. Why that length? I'm not sure. I think that there was a rule that was formed by the universities of England. There was a article I read about the auction of Sheffield rulebook for football for 1.2 million pounds. But yeah 90mins of each round they can do it 🙂
killamch89
They have ridiculous amounts of stamina that allows them to continue playing for 90+ minutes so it's totally possible that they wouldn't necessarily need the half time break. The Blackangel
Just to verify, you are talking about soccer and not American football right? Being American, I always get confused when people say football here, because I know there are so many people that mean soccer, and not what Americans envision when the word "football" is spoken. Head_Hunter
Such will deviate it from being soccer, soccer needs to have period of break, it's been running for ages, so, changing it with this kind of rule you suggested will kill the beautiful game. Justin11
I think FIFA executive bodies suggested to increase football matches to 100 minutes, but such wouldn't see it being a normal football match. It should remain as it is, no need of adjusting it.
Head_Hunter
Definitely it will run the game, I know it was mere suggestion, because fans will kick against it. It wouldn't take more than 24 hours for such plan to be scrapped immediately.
egghead
I think they can play for entire 90 minutes without a break (especially players who are under 25 years)
Justin11
FIFA tried to convince football lovers about the chances of extending the game to 120 minutes, but fans turned it down, so it wouldn't be boring.

Exactly - we're not trying to see Football turned into Test Cricket or golf with these ridiculously long games.

Sure, not all, I love the 90 mins of football matches. Then 120 mins when extra time is needed, I don't want any further rules as regards to the time frame of matches. That's one most of them were kicked off by fans. Fans got the final say, you can't use such kind of decision making to ruin the beautiful game for us. Clasher
Even if it's possible it's just overworking the body, why play straight 90 minutes non stop when you could actually rest a few minutes and continue again.
