Nintendo is that protective so far. It would be classic Nintendo if they patented the design because they'll protect their brand at any cost. Then again, they did take their inspiration from a few other handheld devices so that would make it quite difficult.
skyfire
Yeah that is one reason their clones are playing low key. And they don't do advertising but mostly sell in the low market for the price. But nintendo still tops the sales.

Chinese companies are now smart enough to clone a device but change around a few things so that they can't be sued for copyright.

Yeah. I'll give them that - they cooperate very well with each other. Even when you see them in other countries, they normally work together so that they can get influential positions in a particular country.
skyfire
Yeah they recently took over the Opera browser and the gaming company named Yoyogames which makes gamemaker software. Nobody in the front knows that those brands are now completely under beijeing control. Sad state of this industry that power is leaning to one nation. China has huge influence inside the gaming industry especially the company called Tencent. They have a lot of acquisitions in the media and tech industry. skyfire
Yeah and considering US has change of president, the lobby will push it's tentacles in the US and other places too. I am just wondering though the amount of new products being pushed by the MSI and Lenovo if they are planning on doing price variation considering a lot of products at this moment are not even affordable with people laid off the jobs. Knowing how greedy these manufacturers are, they're more likely to jack up the price than to lower it. The only way they'll ever consider lowering their prices is if everyone stops buying their stuff and we're talking a $200-300 reduction at most depending on the product.
