Kane99
Hey guys, do you know of any new consoles made to play retro carts? I'm aware of Analogue, who has produced other consoles for retro games, but I think their consoles are expensive. I also know of the RetroN brand of consoles. In fact, I got my sister and brother-in-law a RetroN 2 I think it was, as it had SNES and NES games as options I think. I think the RetroN 5 is the one to go for, as it plays NES, SNES, genesis, Gameboy, etc. What are some other consoles made today that play retro carts? The Blackangel
There are a hell of a lot of knockoff consoles that are made to play cartridge games. They work for a few weeks, then quit. I recommend against getting them, especially the ones that play carts from multiple systems. I bought a Retron once, and it only lasted about a month. When I talked to a few people at different gaming shops they all said the same thing I'm saying here. They're a waste of money. If you want something reliable get the actual system. Nintendo released a few variants of the NES, and from what I gather, the top loader is the best one. I still use the original model though. For the most part they do emulate the games fairly well, but have problems of their own. I know the Analogue consoles are well made, and I think some even use actual hardware from recycled consoles. Top loader is considered the better option for sure, as it didn't suffer the problems the original NES had with dust and all that. There are a couple other devices that are made with real hardware and are modded to use HDMI. I like those a lot, since they still use the same hardware, they're just upgraded to work on an HDTV. It's a good way to see what the game could have looked like had HDTVs been a thing back then. I know the N64 has an HD mod out there and other consoles are starting to come out with some. Shole
They are currently reselling ps1s with games and other SNES consoles out there, so you can always find one to buy it. Most of them are fakes from China but they work.
