Forza 7 Will Remove Loot Boxes, No Paid Tokens Will Be in Forza 7 or Forza Horizon 4
Turn 10 Studios has announced that Forza 7 will be removing the loot box-like prize crates from the game in the future. In addition, neither that game nor its upcoming spin-off Forza Horizon 4 will feature any paid tokens at all. This means that players will not have to worry about any real money microtransactions in either Microsoft-owned racing title.
This was announced in a recent blog post from the Head of Turn 10 Studios, Alan Hartman. The entire blog post was a summer update for Forza 7, recapping what has happened since the title released last year and detailing what players can expect in its future. The reasoning for removing the prize crates now after several months since its release and more than 15 major updates comes from player feedback.
The Forza 7 prize crates have been a “source of controversy” since the game came out, according to Hartman. After careful consideration regarding player feedback, the developer has decided to remove them entirely from the game. However, it will take some time before the removal will actually happen. This is because of how deep the prize crates are integrated into the racing game.
No release date was given for the update that will remove the Forza 7 prize crates but it is expected to happen this winter. Changes have already begun as the current lineup of prize crates have been updated so that they offer no competitive advantage and only affect cosmetic items like Driver Gear suits and the like.
Finally, the Forza 7 summer update noted that players will not have to worry about any type of paid tokens like were in previous games. There will be no paid token microtransactions in the game and there will be none in the upcoming spin-off title Forza Horizon 4. Forza Horizon 4 releases later this year on October 2.
