DICE has now revealed the content coming in Battlefield 5 Chapter 4 – Defying the Odds. The fourth Tides of War chapter is due to begin at the end of June, with its first new content release coming on the 27th. One of the most notable things about the new content is that DICE will be adding no less than four new Battlefield 5 maps; more than they have ever added in a single chapter before.
Marita and Al Sundan – The Upcoming Maps in Battlefield 5 Chapter 4
The first of the two new maps coming in Battlefield 5 Chapter 4 are Al Sundan and Marita. The first of these, Al Sundan, is due to release on the 27th of June. It will be the first release of Defying the Odds. Set in the deserts of North Africa, the map is apparently based on the game’s Under No Flag War Story. “Engage alongside a lush desert coast and contrasting harsh environments,” says DICE; “With large distances, vehicle-based teamplay, and battles across all ranges, you’ll always have plenty of choices.”
The second new map coming in Defying the Odds is also the second map of the Battle of Greece pair, due to release sometime in July. The first in this pairing was Mercury, which was released at the end of Chapter 3, on the 30th of May. “Deploy on a sloping mountain ridge and within the tight streets of a rural town on this infantry-focused map,” explains DICE; “Tanks and aircraft will stand aside for intense gunfights and sneaky flanks in the cobbled streets. Stay alert and prepare for challenging, vertical gameplay.”
Provence and Lofoten Islands – The Upcoming Close-Quarter Maps
The two other new Battlefield 5 maps are smaller and designed specifically for the new Closer-Quarter game mode; Provence and Lofoten Islands. This mode puts the focus on squad combat, pitting smaller infantry teams against one another in fast-paced, close-range combat. Both maps will be launching in August. “Destroy an explosives production factory in Lofoten Islands,” says DICE; “Unseat the Axis occupation in Provence. Get up-close and personal on maps tailored for intimate infantry combat where teamwork, skill, and adaptation are your keys to victory.”
