As per usual, the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5 is packed full of new content, especially when it comes to weapons. Not only is the game getting a new Flamethrower Scorestreak, but players can look forward to three new firearms and an unconventional new melee weapon.
Black Ops Cold War Season 5 – New Weapons
Two of the four new weapons coming in Black Ops Cold War Season 5 will be launching at the start of the season, on the 12th of August. Like every other past season, these weapons will be available as part of the Battle Pass. To begin with, the EM2 Assault Rifle can be unlocked at Tier 15. This fully-automatic rifle is accurate at range but has a slower fire rate than other assault rifles. At Tier 31, players can unlock the TEC-9 SMG. This lightweight submachine gun actually performs well at longer ranges than most SMGs, with solid damage. Like the EM2, however, its fire rate is on the slower side for an SMG.
The latter two new weapons won’t be available at launch, but instead will be arriving later in Season 5. The first of these is the sole new melee weapon; the Cane. This elegant black walking aid doubles as a bludgeoning weapon in the right hands, albeit an unconventional one. “Give your enemies a proper sorting with a quick swing from this new melee weapon,” writes Treyarch; “which can knock them unconscious after a crack upside the bonce.”
The final new weapon coming in Season 5 is a particularly powerful new pistol. The Marshal is a break-action handgun which works in a similar fashion to a sawed-off double-barrelled shotgun. Firing 12-gauge shotgun shells, the Marshal does such high damage that it can even score one-hit kills, though it is most effective at close-range. It will be the most powerful pistol in Black Ops Cold War for sheer stopping power when it launches.
