Free PlayStation Plus October 2019: Our Predictions

Sony has brought us some amazing free games this September through PS Plus, Right now, we’re enjoying Batman: Arkham Knight and Darksiders III. As we do, we’re looking forward to next month and wondering what the free PlayStation Plus October 2019 games will be. Following are some of our predictions.

1. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands

One of the biggest upcoming game releases in the month of October is indisputably Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which will be the series’ eleventh title. So this seems like a great time for Sony to allow gamers to catch up on Ghost Recon Wildlands for free through PlayStation Plus. This 2017 game released on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC, and has yet to be featured through PS Plus. But in 2018, Ghost Recon Future Soldier was free through the service, so there is precedent for offering a Ghost Recon game.

2. Entwined

Concrete Genie will be releasing on October 8th as a PlayStation 4 exclusive developed by PixelOpus, a Sony subsidiary. If you’re not familiar with the game, check out some of the trailers; it looks ridiculously atmospheric and innovative, allowing the player to create artwork which comes alive and helps solve puzzles and get around obstructions.

This would be a good chance to feature the studio’s first game, 2014’s Entwined. It is a rhythm game which involves helping a fish and a bird unite their souls. The game has been free through PS Plus before, but not since 2015. Plenty of time has passed to justify making it free again.

3. Trine 3

Also coming out on October 8th is Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince, which will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC. That same day, Trine: Ultimate Collection will release for the same set of platforms.

Perhaps next month, Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power will be free through PlayStation Plus. This series takes place in an atmospheric fantasy world and offers a combination of action RP and puzzle-solving. Sony has actually featured Trine 2 twice through PS Plus, in 2012 and 2014. So it is time to feature Trine 3!

4. This War of Mine

We’re not quite sure why This War of Mine hasn’t yet been free through PlayStation Plus. The expansion pack titled “The Little Ones” was free in 2017 through the service, but not the full game.

Why would this be an ideal time to make the survival game free? The Polish developer which made it, 11 Bit Studios, released another game called Frostpunk last year for Windows. That game is at last getting a port to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 11th. So it would make sense to draw attention to some of this developer’s other games, particularly one as well-received as This War of Mine. Focusing on the horror of the civilian wartime experience and charging the player with taking care of beleaguered survivors, the game achieved massive acclaim upon release.

Those are our picks for next month’s possible free games through PlayStation Plus! Check back later in the month to find out if any of our October 2019 PS Plus free game predictions come true, and swing by our PlayStation news area to find out about everything happening in the PlayStation universe.
