Just in time for next week’s launch of the highly anticipated Forsaken expansion, Sony has announced that Destiny 2 is part of the September lineup of free PlayStation Plus games. Even better, to ensure that PS4 users can also participate in this weekend’s upcoming free Gambit mode trial, Destiny 2 on PS4 is actually available as a free PS Plus download right this very second.

Yep, that’s right, if you head over to Destiny 2’s PlayStation Store page right now and you have an active PlayStation Plus subscription, you’ll be able to download the game for free. Just note that the free PS Plus offer only applies to the core Destiny 2 experience. Both the game’s Year One expansion pass (which grants access to the previously released Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions) and the Forsaken expansion must be purchased separately. However, since the price of both the expansion pass and Forsaken adds up to $60, it means that you can essentially get the complete Destiny 2 experience for what you’d normally have to pay for just to access the core game sans expansions.
While Destiny 2 is clearly the main highlight of September’s PlayStation Plus offerings, it’s not the only game that PS Plus subscribers will be able to add to their library. The full list of September, 2018 PS Plus free games can be found below:
- Destiny 2 (PS4)
- God of War 3: Remastered (PS4)
- Another World – 20th Anniversary Edition (PS3, Cross-Play on PS Vita and PS4)
- QUBE (PS3, Cross-Play on PS4)
- Foul Play (PS Vita, Cross-Play on PS4)
- Sparkle 2 (PS Vita, Cross-Play on PS4)
Along with the above games, PS Plus subscribers who also have a PS VR unit will also be able to grab a free copy of Here They Lie, and PS PlayLink users will be able to snag a copy of Knowledge is Power. All of the above offers will move into the PS Plus rotation on Sep. 4.
