Over the past months, fans of Call of Duty have been digging deep into the first Blackout trailer to determine the size of its maps and what iconic Black Ops locations it could include. A few of those locations have been revealed and its size has been estimated to be around the size of Fortnite’s, however, Treyarch has revealed the full sized Blackout map, so that we can be sure what we know is right.
The news about the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Map has been revealed through the game’s official Twitter page, and in it you can find 13 named locations, all of which are existing maps in previous Black Ops titles.
With the official Blackout beta starting in a few days, it will be interesting to see which of those locations will be the fans’ favorite landing places. If it works anything similar to PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds, then center points like Rivertown and Firing range will be the sweet spots of the Blackout map.
What’s interesting to note about the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout Map is that Nuketown is now a whole island. The franchise’s smallest map is now set in a completely seperate area from the other locations, giving it its own remote unique “ecosystem”.
As we already know, each match of Blackout will include 80 players during its testing period, with that number subjected to change before the game’s release. Do we need more players in the Blackout map though? If it indeed is the size of Fortnite’s map then 80 players might give each match a few more minutes of gameplay, multiplied by another amount due to the fact that perks, vehicles and gadgets will be available in-game.
Don’t forget to check out the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout beta, which starts September 10th on Playstation 4, with Xbox One and PC getting their own testing period after a few days. On PC, the Blackout Beta will be open and not pre-order exclusive.
