Gamescom 2019: NXT Star Johnny Gargano Promotes WWE 2K20 Game, SuperCard in Germany
NXT superstar Johnny Gargano has been sort of “off the grid” ever since his match against Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver: Toronto earlier this month. However, the man who’s known as “Johnny Wrestling” recently surfaced at the Gamescom 2019 event going on in Germany. Gargano, an avid comic book and video game fan, was on hand to help promote WWE Supercard and the upcoming WWE 2K20 game.

Just a few days ago, WWE NXT’s Johnny Gargano tweeted that he might “get on an airplane and fly to Germany.” He hashtagged it with “#gamescom2019” as part of his suggestion, and on Friday, tweets arrived showing off Gargano’s involvement with Gamescom 2019.
It’s a major gaming event going on in Germany with companies including Konami, Google, 2K, and others promoting their upcoming products. Gargano was there to interact with fans and promote the WWE 2K20 game along with Supercard.
WWE 2K20 also shared images from Gargano’s promotional efforts at the Gamescom 2019 event. In addition to Gargano being there for 2K20, he was also on hand as one of the main promotors for WWE Supercard. It’s a mobile game for iOS and Android that involves collecting cards featuring WWE superstars for use in different game situations.
Gargano, NXT brand ready for a big move
Gargano is a great choice to represent the various games at Gamescom 2019 including WWE 2K20. He’s been among the top stars in recent history for the NXT roster and quite popular with fans. Gargano became the first-ever NXT Triple Crown Champion once he won the NXT Championship earlier this year.
That added to his other NXT title wins in his career which incited the tag team titles with Tommaso Ciampa and the NXT North American Championship. He’s competed in many of the highest-rated NXT matches in recent memory, including his bouts with Adam Cole over the NXT Championship.
Gargano and the NXT brand will take a big new step soon. After years, the show officially moves from being exclusively on WWE Network to cable on the USA Network next month. Gargano spoke about it in a recent video clip.
The NXT show officially debuts on the USA Network on Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Meanwhile, WWE Supercard is currently available for iOS mobile at the App Store and Android at Google Play Store.
