Continuing the somewhat… strange advertising which Gearbox deployed prior to the release of Borderlands 3, the studio has launched a new holiday promotion with its own animated trailer; the Borderlands 3 Gift of Mayhem promotion. This includes daily SHiFT codes and rewards coming all through this week. The event also includes a sale reduction on Borderlands 3 itself.
Borderlands 3 Gift of Mayhem SHiFT Codes and Rewards
Prior to the launch of Borderlands 3, Gearbox made use of a variety of unusual ads for the game, stoking interest through absurdity and unexpected content. This latest ad seems to be a return to form, of sorts, for the studio; a holiday-themed ad primarily featuring puppets before cutting to in-game footage. The ad marks the start of Gifts of Mayhem, a holiday promotion for the game which will be running throughout the next week.
Every day during the Gift of Mayhem event, Gearbox will be releasing new SHiFT codes for players to redeem either online or in-game. These codes will grant players holiday-themed rewards. Note that these codes are time-limited and must be used before the 10th of January, 2020. Two of these codes are available so far, for a new ECHO Skin and a new weapon skin, respectively. Be sure to keep an eye on the Gearbox and Borderlands social media feeds as more codes are released throughout the week.
In addition, the Borderlands 3 Gift of Mayhem event includes a holiday sale on the game itself. For a much more limited time at certain retailers, consumers can get Borderlands 3 for up to 35% off. If you missed the game’s Black Friday sales and want to check it out, now does seem like a good time. The first Borderlands 3 story DLC, Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, is due to release in just a few days’ time, after all. (The 19th of December, to be exact.)
