Building up towards the release of Borderlands 3, Gearbox has released a new recap video which covers the story of the original Borderlands game. Of course, the video also serves as a promotion for Borderlands: Game of the Year edition, the newly released remaster. Spanning just a couple of minutes, the video introduces the original four Vault Hunters and covers the Borderlands story up to the introduction of Handsome Jack.
New Borderlands Story Trailer Recaps the Original Game’s Story
Some of what is covered in the trailer was already posted by Gearbox on the official Borderlands website. There, fans can see a brief summary of the story of each of the existing Borderlands games. However, that recap is in written form, rather than video. Given that this video only covers the events of Borderlands, it seems likely that Gearbox may release subsequent and similar videos for the stories of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Perhaps even Tales From the Borderlands as well.
This latest video also serves as a quick introduction to the original Borderlands story for newcomers to the franchise; people who aren’t already familiar with Roland, Brick, Mordecai and Lilith. As the original four playable characters, these four have generally been major characters in all of the subsequent games. Indeed, some of them have already made appearances in trailers for Borderlands 3, confirming that they will appear in the upcoming game.
Of course, there are two other sets of playable characters; Maya, Salvador, Axton and Zer0 from Borderlands 2, together with Athena, Wilhelm, Nisha and Claptrap from the Pre-Sequel. (Not to mention DLC characters Aurelia, Jack, Gaige and Krieg.) Again, some of these characters appear in Borderlands 3 trailers, but of course, some are either already dead (Wilhelm, Nisha, etc.) or may simply not return. There’s also a whole host of characters from Tales From the Borderlands, one of whom has already been confirmed to make an appearance. As such, fans may well get to see more story recap videos from Gearbox soon.
