When Borderlands 3 launches next month, the game will feature four different planets, including Pandora. Indeed, for the first time in the series, the game will allow players to travel from world to world. Gearbox has already revealed a rough overview of Athenas and Promethea, two of the new planets. Now, they have revealed the fourth and final of the Borderlands 3 planets; Eden-6.
The Borderlands 3 Planets: Eden-6
Where Promethea is a dense-populated world and home to the Atlas Corporation, and Athenas is a tranquil world, almost uninhabited save for a few scattered monasteries, Eden-6 is a lush swampland of a planet. Like Athenas, it seems to be sparsely-populated, although it has a very different climate. “A backwater swampland of a planet, and family home of the Jakobs clan,” explains Gearbox; “Eden-6 is covered by lush greenery and stagnant waters, dotted with occasional settlements and the rusted hulks of crashed spaceships.”
The detail that Eden-6 is home to the Jakobs clan is particularly interesting. Presumably, this clan are the owners of the ‘Jakobs’ arms company, meaning that another weapons corporation could have a big role in Borderlands 3. (Atlas and Maliwan are both confirmed to have major roles already.) However, Eden-6 finding them might not be easy if it means venturing through the jungles of Eden-6; “Civilisation has never fully taken hold here,” continues Gearbox; “and indigenous dangers including ravenous Saurians and semi-sentient Jabbers effectively rule the planet. As if you didn’t already have enough to worry about, the Children of the Vault have a presence here as well.”
Interestingly, it seems that FL4K has spent at least some time of Eden-6 prior to the start of the game. After all, one of his animal companions is a Jabber; a species of beast new in Borderlands 3 that isn’t native to Pandora. At present, it’s unknown what role Eden-6 might play in the story. However, the Jakobs clan is almost certain to be important. After all, “Jakob’s Manor” is one of three key sites Gearbox designates on the planet, alongside “Ambermire” and “Fort Sunshine.”
