If you are excited to get your hands on the PS5, you will be thrilled to learn that you may soon be able to pre-order the PlayStation 5. We believe this to be the case because listings are starting to crop up on sites like Amazon.com. Plus, we are closing in on November fast. So, pre-orders should start very soon.
You Should Soon Be Able to Pre-Order the PlayStation 5
You can view product listings for the PS5 at major retailers at the following links:
You will have a choice between the PS5 and the PS5 Digital Edition. The latter simply lacks the optical drive that the former has. We still do not know the exact PS5 release date, but it sounds like Sony still expects to release the console in November. As to pricing, there have been a variety of estimates, but the majority seem to average out to around $500.
There is a very good reason to pre-order this year rather than wait to pick up your PS5 when orders go live. COVID-19 is likely to result in some strange supply and demand issues. As a result, you might not want to wait and take your chances. If you pre-order the PS5, you have the best chance of actually being able to get it on release day. So, sign up at the retailer of your choice for a notification of when pre-orders go live. That way, you can get yours in right away and beat the rush.
Wondering about backwards compatibility? As of right now, the PS5 is only confirmed to be backwards compatible with PS4 games. It may not be all PS4 games either, but it is supposed to be the “overwhelming majority.” There is not yet an official list of games which are compatible. Hopefully there will be soon.
Since November is just a few months from now, we expect there will be a lot more news soon about the PS5. To make sure you get all the latest updates when they arrive, follow our PlayStation news.
