Ubisoft recently wrapped the Year 2 content stream for Ghost Recon Wildlands with the launch of Special Operation 4. However, the studio isn’t quite done creating new content for the open-world tactical shooter. A surprise DLC announcement heralded a free weekend event which is live as of this writing.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Operation Oracle and Free Weekend Event
The new DLC takes the form of a free in-game mission pack called Operation Oracle. As you can see from the above image, Operation Oracle features a character played by Punisher/Walking Dead actor Jon Bernthal. According to Ubisoft’s official description of Operation Oracle, Bernthal plays a former Ghost named Cole D. Walker:
“Playable in single-player or co-op, Operation Oracle sends the Ghosts on a rescue mission for a Skell Tech engineer taken hostage by Unidad. This typical rescue mission will soon turn into something much bigger. Forget what you know about your enemies and friends as you meet Cole D. Walker, a Ghost Team Leader on the hunt for truth.”
This announcement post on the Wildlands website details Operation Oracle’s accompanying game update. The update mainly focuses on tuning up the previously released Guerrilla PvE mode, but it addresses other areas as well.
Ubisoft’s post also reveals the rewards players can unlock for completing Operation Oracle. Successfully finishing both of the DLC’s new missions unlocks Cole Walker’s unique arm tattoo and bracelet. Equipping the bracelet allows the player to perform a knife-based “Executioner” CQC finisher move. Ubisoft also says a playable Icon skin for Walker will be added as a Ubisoft Club reward sometime in the future.
Accompanying Operation Oracle is a free weekend event which lasts until this upcoming Sunday, May 5. During the free weekend event, any interested users can download and play Wildlands for free. The free weekend is available on both PC and consoles.
Ubisoft has been supporting Ghost Recon Wildlands for a long time. With the Operation Oracle DLC, it looks like that support won’t be stopping anytime soon.
