Ubisoft has released a massive new update for Ghost Recon Wildlands which is separate from the four planned Year 2 content expansion, focusing instead on general housekeeping and fan-requested quality-of-life features.
The Operations and Maintenance update is now live on all platforms, and it comes in as a pretty hefty download if you’re playing on any platform other than Steam:
- Steam PC: 3 GB
- Uplay PC: 17.3 GB
- Xbox One: 15.9 GB
- PlayStation 4: 18.4 GB
The update focuses mainly on fixing bugs and making minor tweaks to existing features (you can now skip the battle crate opening animation for example), but there are a few noteworthy additions nestled in the update’s changelog as well. For example, a new ‘Mood Matchmaking’ filter allows players to pick specific in-game activities (such as main story missions or Tier 1 progression) and then be automatically linked up with other players looking to do the same activities.
In order to up the value for Wildlands’ Year 2 content pass, Ubisoft is also offering a free cosmetic operator pack to all pass owners, and each of the two remaining Year 2 content expansions will come with an additional operator pack as well. There’s also a series of new Rainbow Six Siege Icon character outfits for Siege operators Mira, Smoke, Thatcher, and Sledge which can be found in Wildlands’ battle crates.
Again, as was mentioned above, the Operations and Maintenance update is separate from the Year 2 content expansion plans. There are still two more content expansions planned for Wildlands’ second year of operation, with reports suggesting that the third expansion will arrive in December of this year.
The full patch notes for the Operations and Maintenance update can be found here. Ghost Recon Wildlands’ most recent content expansion, which launched back in July, had a heavy Rainbow Six theme, with specific additions including a PvE permadeath mode and even a Rainbow Six Patriots easter egg.
