Next week, Ubisoft will release the Special Operation 3 update for Ghost Recon Wildlands. The update includes a new mission theme along with new PvE and PvP features. Specifically, there will be new PvP classes, prestige economy tweaks, a Photo Mode, and more.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Special Operation 3
As its name infers, Special Operation 3 is the third major update included in Ghost Recon Wildlands’ Year 2 roadmap. Most of the update’s features are free for all players, but some are locked behind the Year 2 Pass. For example, the Year 2 Pass unlocks an exclusive Special Operation 3 item pack. Year 2 Pass owners also get instant early access to the two new Ghost War PvP classes.
Ubisoft is keeping the theme of Special Operation 3 a secret for now, but it has confirmed the following features:
- A new PvE mission with unlockable rewards
- Two new Ghost War PvP classes
- Two new Ghost War maps
- An exclusive item pack for Year 2 Pass owners
- Prestige economy tweaks based on community feedback
- An in-game Photo Mode feature
- Over 90 new cosmetic items to unlock
This post on the Ghost Recon Wildlands website confirms a December 11 launch date for Special Operation 3. As with previous updates, Year 2 Pass owners will have one week of early access to the new Ghost War classes. They also won’t have to unlock the new classes before being able to use them.
Previous Ghost Recon Wildlands Special Operation updates utilized fun themes such as Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six Siege. There was even an update that pitted players against the infamous Predator. When it comes to Special Operation 3’s theme, your guess is as good as ours. Ghost Recon Wildlands’ final Year 2 update, presumably called Special Operation 4, is due to arrive in Q1, 2019.
Other shooter games like Fallout 76 and Battlefield 5 are receiving major updates as well. With that in mind, now seems as good a time as ever to be a shooter fan.
