Ubisoft has announced the next major content update for Ghost Recon Wildlands will arrive next week on February 27. The update, titled Special Operation 4, includes a new PvE mode, a new PvP Ghost War class, and more. Those who own Wildlands’ Year 2 pass will also be granted special perks such as an exclusive item pack.

Full details regarding Special Operation 4 won’t be unveiled until closer to its launch date. However, Ubisoft teased some of the update’s new features via this recent blog post.
According to the post, the new PvE experience will test players’ endurance and award an outfit set upon completion. Ghost War players will also have one new playable class and two new maps to tinker around with. Ubisoft is also implementing a highly requested feature for Wildlands’ solo campaign: a time of day setting. The new option will allow players to manually set the time of day in their solo campaign/Ghost Mode playthroughs.
Other miscellaneous features included in the Special Operation 4 update are as follows:
- An exclusive item pack and early Ghost War class access for Year 2 pass holders.
- Updates for Battle Crates and Prestige Crates. Voice lines and certain emotes are being moved from Battle Crates to Prestige Crates. Prestige Crates will also have a greater chance of dropping rare items.
- A custom match browser which lets players filter online matches based on their personal criteria.
- The retiring of the Challenge Seasons system in favor of a more straightforward Daily Challenges setup. Each day players can complete three solo challenges, one Task Force challenge, and one Community challenge. All challenges will also grant increased amounts of Prestige Credits upon completion.
- Two new event types for the current PvP event rotation.
There’s no word yet on whether Special Operation 4 will have a special crossover theme like previous operations. Earlier operations crossed over with Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six Siege, and even Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. And speaking of Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft recently outlined that particular game’s Year 4 content plans.
