Fortnite Battle Royale data miners had discovered the gifting system a few months ago. Many players have been waiting for this feature to come out, but it appears that Epic Games had another plan. Fortunately, it turns out that the gifting system is in its final stages of development and will come soon.
The v6.02 patch was released on Wednesday, October 10, and it added some interesting files for the Fortnite gifting system. According to revealed images and info, it is safe to say that the feature will be released very soon. Additionally, there will be some limitations.
Fortnite gifting system
Firstly, it is important to note that this is just a gifting system. Many Fortnite players believe that this feature will allow them to trade cosmetic items, which is not the case. Trading would not only encourage more scamming, but it would also hurt Epic Games’ revenue from the video game.
As you can see in the image below, players will be able to buy an item from the in-game store as a gift. This simply means that Fortnite players will be able to send cosmetic items to their friends’ accounts. This way, the Fortnite developer will still make the profit, while more players will get access to premium cosmetic items.
Unfortunately, the Fortnite gifting system will have some limitations. It appears that players won’t be able to receive more than one gift every 10 days. However, this might be changed before the feature comes out.
Fortnite players will also be able to personalize their gifts with a 100-character message. Additionally, they will be able to send the same gift to multiple friends at once.
The release date of the Fortnite gifting system has not be revealed yet. However, we can expect Epic Games to release it very soon, maybe even within a few weeks.
