God of War has dominated most retail charts since its release; the single-player action RPG from Santa Monica Studios has sold extremely well, despite being a PlayStation exclusive, and despite the game having no micro-transactions or DLC. The monthly report for June shows God of War sales continuing to overshadow most of the competition, although it was dethroned from the best-selling spot.
God of War in UK June Retail Sales
God of War has performed strongly in the UK since launch; claiming the best-selling top spot in most weeks. It dethroned Far Cry 5 from the position when it first launched. Although it has seen brief competition from Vampyr and Detroit: Become Human, it has inevitably bounced back. In June, the best-selling title was forced out of the #1 spot by FIFA 18. However, that is not entirely surprising; the FIFA World Cup is currently taking place in Russia; doubtless providing a huge boost to the game’s sales in the UK. Despite that, however, continuing strong God of War sales still helped it claim the #2 spot ahead of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Detroit: Become Human.
The full top ten list for June is as follows. Note that this report only tracks physical retail sales, not digital downloads.
- FIFA 18
- God of War
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
- Detroit: Become Human
- Far Cry 5
- Fallout 4
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Mario Tennis Aces
- Vampyr
- Grand Theft Auto V
Of particular note in this month’s chart is Fallout 4. The announcement of Fallout 76 has fueled a resurgent interest in the last Fallout title; enough to bring the 2015 title to the #5 best-selling spot in the UK. Far Cry 5 also continues to perform well long after release. However, in its case sales were likely bolstered by the release of its first DLC; Hours of Darkness. The game’s second DLC, Lost on Mars, is expected to release sometime this month.
