A major announcement arrived that Google Stadia has formed a new partnership with Electronic Arts. Through the partnership, a number of popular EA games will be coming to Google Stadia. Among the titles mentioned are EA’s sports simulation games Madden NFL and FIFA. They’ll join an expanding library which already includes one popular sports simulation title.
Google Stadia Connect includes EA Madden and FIFA news
The big news came from the official Google Stadia Twitter on April 28 in a number of tweets. One of those was simply a tweeted message confirming that EA’s biggest franchises are coming to Stadia. The other was a look at video giving a recap of the first Stadia Connect of the year.
In the video Phil Harrison talks about several big announcements. One of those is that they opened up Stadia to everyone in their fourteen launch countries and included Stadia for free there. Harrison also said they gave people a number of games to enjoy for two months free of charge using Stadia Pro.
Harrison mentions everyone who joins Stadia Pro can enjoy two months worth of free games. All existing members also get two months of free Stadia Pro. Gamers can also buy specific titles they want directly from the Stadia Store. Access to those particular games will never expire.
The other big news that Harrison delivered is that they will be bringing five Electronic Arts games to Stadia as part of an EA and Google partnership. Harrison mentions Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order will be the first EA title available this fall. He then mentions that EA’s Madden and FIFA titles will come in 2020 and beyond.
Harrison goes on to say there will be more details on the way regarding the EA games in the coming months. Both the Madden and FIFA games are currently available for Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One. However, only FIFA is on Nintendo Switch with a special Legacy Edition.
As far as sports simulation games on FIFA, the popular basketball title NBA 2K20 is on Stadia. There was no EA basketball title this year, though, as NBA Live is on hiatus. So it should be interesting to see if Live will return and be featured on Stadia along with other EA games in the future.
What is Google Stadia?
Google’s Stadia first arrived last November. It isn’t a game console like PlayStation or Xbox, but rather a cloud gaming service. Some consider it like a Netflix for video games. Basically, gamers can purchase a Stadia controller to use with the screen of their choice
Games can stream at up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Right now, those who use Stadia can play games through Google Chrome web browsers on computers as well as through select smartphones such as Samsung, Razer, and Asus. In addition, it works on the Google Chrome OS tables and Chromecast devices.
Upon launch, Stadia had just 22 games and another four arrived last December. As of this year, Google said they were going to release another 120 games. Some of the popular titles on there include Mortal Kombat 11, Red Dead Redemption 2, Final Fantasy XV, and Borderlands 3.
As far as sports games, we’ve mentioned NBA 2K20. Other titles in the genre include Football Manager 2020, Windjammers 2, and Wave Break along with racing games F1 2020, MotoGP 20, and Grid.
