Racing fans have a lot to enjoy in the latest big update to GTA Online, thanks to the addition of Open Wheel Racing. The San Andreas Prix, as it is named, features seven tracks and two new “open-wheel ultra-performance” vehicles, allowing players to compete in all-new, extreme high-speed races.
GTA Online Open Wheel Racing
“The future of competitive motorsport has arrived,” writes Rockstar; “and it’s in a hurry. Two brand-new open-wheel ultra-performance vehicles. Seven high-speed tracks. Dozens of split-second decisions, from the tires you use, to whether you take that all-important pit stop. And above all: one seat, one driver, one grand prize.”
GTA Online Open Wheel Racing is available now as part of the game’s latest free content update. While racing is hardly new to GTA Online, Open Wheel Racing offers something new for racing fans. Players can compete in the San Andreas Prix, which features seven new tracks set around Los Santos. The first course, Height of Society, is a street circuit in Vinewood Hills. Elsewhere, In Due Course will take players through the heart of the city. Lap It Up has players race around the Los Santos Port, and on Brace for Impact, players will race around the runways of the Airport. More Haste More Speed takes place at Fort Zancudo, Urban Renewal is a track set around the neighbourhood of Davis, and finally New Wave follows the Los Santos coastline.
Of course, players will need new cars up to the rigours of Open Wheel Racing, and these come in the forms of the Progen PR4 and Ocelot R88. Both of these new open wheel vehicles are extremely fast, boasting maxed-out acceleratio and traction. (Although neither have particularly stellar brakes…) Of course, players can fine-tune their new vehicles at Los Santos Customs, as per usual. After all, you’ll need every advantage you can eke out of these new machines if you want to win the San Andreas Prix.
