When Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War first launched, one of the most surprising game modes that wasn’t included in the game was Gunfight. First introduced in the most recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the 2v2 Gunfight mode quickly became extremely popular, resulting in a great many 2v2 maps coming to the game post-launch. Now, at last, Gunfight will be coming to Black Ops Cold War as part of Season One.
2v2 Gunfight is Coming to Black Ops Cold War
“The seminal Modern Warfare 2v2 game mode now comes to Black Ops for the first time!” writes Activision; “Sometimes fast, sometimes fraught, but almost always resulting in high-tension rounds, the rules are simple: Be the last duo standing.”
Gunfight in Black Ops Cold War won’t be much different from its first appearance in Modern Warfare. Two teams of two will face off on small 2v2 maps in rapid-fire, single-life rounds. If you fail to eliminate your opponents in time, an Overtime Flag will spawn for 10 seconds, giving you a final chance to claim it and win. Failing that, the team with the most health remaining wins the round, and the first team to win six rounds wins the overall match.
Gunfight will be coming to the game during the launch week of Season One. That week will officially start on the 16th of December. Of course, the mode will need a few 2v2 maps to go with it, and four of these are also coming during launch week; Game Show, ICBM, KGB, and U-Bahn. These settings range from the set of an 80s TV gameshow to the Lubyanka KGB building to the subway tunnels of West Berlin. If Black Ops Cold War follows the trend of Modern Warfare, additional 2v2 maps are very likely to arrive in later seasons.
