Gwent: Crimson Curse is the first expansion DLC for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game; CD Projekt Red’s standalone spin-off of the card game which appears in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Crimson Curse, which was only recently announced, is heavily themed around vampires. However, there’s plenty of new cards and content coming for the other factions in the game. In fact, CD Projekt Red have now announced that the Scoia’tael will be getting a whole new faction leader.
Dana Méadbh, the Scoia’tael Faction Leader in Gwent: Crimson Curse
The new Leader Spotlight showcases the new Scoia’tael faction leader; Dana Méadbh. While she may appear elven, Dana Méadbh is in fact a goddess of The Witcher world. She doesn’t make an appearance in the games, and receives only a single mention in the first game, where it is implied that she may be an embodiment of the goddess Melitele. The only mention of her in the original books comes in The Last Wish, where the inhabitants of Dol Blathanna revere her under the name ‘Lyfia’. Besides that, almost nothing is known about this mysterious being.
Dana Méadbh will be joining the Scoia’tael when Gwent: Crimson Curse launches in a few days’ time, on the 28th of March. According to CD Projekt Red, she has an interesting Order ability; “Play a Scoia’tael card from your deck with 0 Provision Cost or less,” it reads; “This value is raised by 1 for every unique primary category among Scoia’tael cards in your starting deck.”
Although it’s not wholly clear, the trailer appears to imply that her gameplay style will feature waves of Scoia’tael which benefit from well-timed boosts. Dana Méadbh is likely to synergise well with other new Scoia’tael cards coming in Crimson Curse. Every faction in the game will be getting at least 14 new cards when the expansion launches.
