A few weeks ago we found out that Halo Infinite won’t be a weird type of prequel for the Halo franchise but instead will be a straight sequel to Halo 5. 343 Industries confirmed that by also saying that their upcoming title is indeed Halo 6.
During a recent 343 Social Stream on Mixer, 343 Industries’ Jeff Easterling cleared the air on the matter of Halo Infinite and its story by saying that it is Halo 6, a direct sequel to Halo 5: Guardians. He said:
“It is Halo 6. You should just consider it Halo 6. Don’t think of it as a weird prequel kind of thing. It’s the next story. It’s the next chapter in what is going on.”
Unlike Halo 5: Guardians, Halo Infinite will swift its focus from Locke to Master Chief, bringing a fan favorite character of the franchise into the spotlight.
Unfortunately, no further information has been given about Halo Infinite. For all we know, the game is still far away from releasing, with 343 Industries and their collaborator Skybox Labs are working tiresly on making their next game a fresh start for the franchise.
Regarding its relation to the previous games, the developers revealed that they are doing some changes to what we were used to in the franchise, something that we bet on right after we found out that some of the original cast of Halo may be coming back for this one.
As for its release date, Halo Infinite isn’t going to be launching any time soon. Analysts expect it to release after 2019, something that may be coming into conflict with the fact that the next Microsoft console codenamed Scarlet might be releasing sometime in 2020.
For the time being, you can check out Halo: The Master Chief Collection which is better than ever on Xbox One. Do you own an Xbox One X? Even better. You can experience the collection in all its graphical glory.
