First announced by Microsoft earlier this year, the upcoming Halo: Reach PC edition has been something which fans have been waiting years for. Now, the game finally has its release date, announced during today’s Inside Xbox event; the classic Halo title will be the first to arrive on PC, on the 3rd of December. In fact, it will be the first part of a PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, with more titles coming in the future.
Upcoming Halo: Reach PC Edition Announced by Microsoft
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is currently available on Xbox, and was announced as coming to the PC earlier this year. It is currently available to pre-order on both Steam and the Microsoft Store for $39.99. It is also available via Xbox Game Pass on PC. While the collection is available as a single bundle, Microsoft also plans to release each title separately. Halo: Reach is its first, and can be bought standalone for $9.99. In either case, it will be arriving on PC on the 3rd.
After the release of the Halo: Reach PC edition, Microsoft plans to release each Halo title in narrative order. Presumably, that means players can look forward to the remastered version of Halo: Combat Evolved next. However, it’s currently unknown when that game (or the others) will become available. While Halo: Reach should be largely unchanged in its PC version, Microsoft will be adding some new options. These include fine-tuned keyboard and mouse controls, as well as an FOV slider, among other things.
It remains to be seen how long it will take Microsoft to bring the entire Master Chief Collection to PC. However, following the release of Reach, it seems likely that fans won’t need to wait overly long for the other titles. After all, Microsoft is evidently using the collection as a means to promote their new Xbox Game Pass for PC initiative. As such, they have plenty of incentive to release them sooner rather than later.
