The first Battlefield V Trailer released by DICE and Electronic Arts sure was not a representative of the title as we’ve seen it later on. With almost 80k dislikes, there’s many reasons that fans didn’t get hyped with that trailer.
Either you liked the reveal Battlefield V Trailer or not, there are some timestaps that had you go like “Wait, what did I just see”. Too many explosions and fights going on all around, all wrapped up in a vibrant and colorful scene. What went wrong with it though and it became so hated by the community? Take a look at the trailer once more before we begin:
The extremely colorful setting
What’s the first thing that pops into mind when thinking about a battlefield? Every image that you might think of is colored with shades of black, dull and greyish. This isn’t the case with the Battlefield V Trailer. Set in the countryside, among beautiful green landscape, it’s almost unrealistic for a battle to be set there. It almost looks like one of those war scenes destroying everything beautiful we’ve seen in Ghibli Studios movies.
However, many World War 2 battles took place in such landscapes and it shows another face of the war. Even though the trailer might seem too bright, the game itself isn’t as much. There’s evidence to support that from what we’ve seen in released gameplay footage.
The woman with the prosthetic arm and bad manners
This was the first indication that women will be a standard feature in Battlefield V. The community is torn between the historical accuracy of this, however, DICE has stated that this is happening whether fans like it or not.
The woman seen in the first seconds of the Battlefield V trailer is a feisty one. Rushes into a house, bearing a prosthetic arm and then is seen on a vehicle killing anything in sight. One thing we’re still baffled about is the fact that at the end of the trailer she bashes the head of an enemy with a spiked bat, not her hand. Well, this makes no sense.
Everything is too cinematic
The first Battlefield V trailer is almost too cinematic for its own good. There’s no music and everything is scattered around the camera guy in a perfect design. Yeah, this shows the turn to destruction and dynamic explosions, DICE has talked about, however, fans weren’t too thrilled about the whole cinema kind of experience.
All of the aforementioned details about the Battlefield V trailer are merely things that fans didn’t like about it. This doesn’t mean that they portray the game in total, we’ve seen that already from its gameplay footage. We can’t wait to find out more about the game when it releases this October.
