There’s a Hidden Ghost Ship in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

It seems that, even years on, there are some secrets in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which many players are unaware of. CD Projekt Red recently revealed one such hidden secret via Twitter; a ghost ship which only appears in a specific place at a specific time, somewhere off the coast of Skellige.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Ghost Ship

CD Projekt Red revealed the elusive secret ghost ship via a Tweet on the official Witcher Twitter account; “At a specific time of night and a specific location in the waters of Skellige,” explains the Tweet; “a ghost ship emerges only for a brief moment. This happens once each and every day. Wanna go ghost hunting?”

The Tweet includes a screenshot of the mysterious ghost ship as evidence of its existence. Although some players may have been lucky enough to glimpse this spectral vessel, the vast majority likely have not. However, following CD Projekt Red’s Tweet, it will likely only be a matter of time before some enterprising players manage to pinpoint the ship’s location and the time at which it appears. It’s unknown whether Geralt can interact with the ship in any way, but it seems unlikely; sadly, there aren’t any contracts to destroy the vessel. In all likelihood, the ghost ship is merely an Easter egg put into the game by the developers.

The Ship Appears Somewhere Off the Coast of Skellige

Coincidentally, this isn’t the only ship-based news released by CD Projekt Red in recent days. The Witcher Twitter account also shared concept art from The Witcher 3’s development of a ship that never made it into the game. This larger ship was intended to be one that Geralt could sail, and was large enough that Roach could board with him. Unfortunately, this ship never made it past the conceptual stage. The Witcher 3 got smaller boats which Geralt is able to sail in the game. Roach must stay on the shoreline, however.
