As part of its recently launches 2.13 update, Hitman 2 has received a limited-time Snow Festival mission. The mission, which is based in the Hokkaido legacy location, involves assassinating a villainous fireworks factory manager named Dmitri Fedorov. There are also six unique challenges linked to the Snow Festival mission. Completing all six challenges unlocks a unique Ice Pick melee weapon so it’s well worth doing for Hitman 2 completionists.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through all six of Hitman 2’s Snow Festival challenges.
Hitman 2 Snow Festival Challenge Setup
Before you start going after the Snow Festival challenges, you’ll want to do some prep work first. Make sure you have unlocked both the Emetic Syringe and the ICA Remote Taser. There are also two Hokkaido location mastery rewards you’ll want to unlock as well. Thankfully, they unlock one right after the other. The unlocks needed are the Kitchen Food Storage ICA stash (mastery rank 11) and Kitchen starting location (mastery rank 12).
Blood in the Snow
This challenge is pretty straightforward. All you need to do to complete Blood in the Snow is assassinate Fedorov in any fashion. Completing this challenge also unlocks the Snow Festival suit for permanent use.
N-Icicle Assassin
For this challenge, you need to stab Fedorov with a small icicle. You can find such icicles hanging from the lanterns out in the gardens. Just grab one and give him what for. You’ll be restarting the mission multiple times anyways so it doesn’t matter if you’re seen stabbing him. You still get credit for the challenge even if you restart the mission after killing Fedorov.
In Your Face!
Another straightforward challenge, this one involves beaning three gardeners with snowballs. Just head out into the central garden and use Instinct to locate usable piles of snow. Using them equips you with a snowball which you can chuck at NPC’s like other thrown weapons. Knock out the three gardeners with snowballs and the challenge is done. Note that even though the snowballs are non-lethal, throwing them is still a hostile action. Therefore, do your best to remain unseen during your dastardly snowball-related deed.
Cold From Above
If you head over to the central garden’s northwestern corner and look up, you’ll spot a large hanging icicle. For reference, the icicle is near the red Japanese-style archway and glows in Instinct mode.
As Fedorov wanders around the garden, he’ll eventually pause right underneath the icicle, giving you the perfect kill opportunity. However, you’ll need a silenced pistol with which to shoot the icicle and trigger its fall. Here’s where the kitchen mastery rewards come into play. Simply set one of your silenced pistols as the Kitchen Food Storage stashed item. Begin the mission in the Kitchen, grab your weapon, head outside, and shoot the icicle when the moment is right.
Cold Surprise
For this challenge, you need to kill Fedorov by drowning him. Again, you’ll want to start in the Kitchen, only this time swap your stashed item for the Emetic Syringe. Quickly grab the syringe and then run over to the bathroom at the main facility’s southwest corner. For reference, the bathroom is on level 1 across from a security room on your map.
Inside the bathroom are two patients, one in the main bathroom area and one in the leftmost stall. Subdue the patient in the main area and hide his body in the closet in the rightmost stall. Now, this next part is a bit tricky. Fedorov eventually enters the bathroom to wash his hands. You have to prick him with the Emetic Syringe but you can’t do so while he’s washing his hands. Otherwise, he’ll see you in the mirror and freak out. Your best bet is to prick him as he’s turning to leave the bathroom.
If all goes well, Fedorov will get sick and go into the rightmost stall to throw up. Drown him in the toilet and the Cold Surprise challenge is done.
Festival Shock
This final challenge tasks you with killing Fedorov by means of electrocution. Again, you’ll want to start in the Kitchen, only with the ICA Remote Taser as your smuggled item. Follow the same procedure as the Cold Surprise challenge above, but this time when Fedorov enters the bathroom subdue him. Make sure his unconscious body is in front of the two sinks and then turn them on to overflow them. With Fedorov’s body in the pool of water, throw the Remote Taser into the puddle and trigger it to finish Fedorov off.
