Next month, Sean Bean will play another character who meets an untimely demise as Hitman 2’s first Elusive Target.
One Does Not Simply…
Hitman is a long-running stealth-action series that emphasizes player ingenuity and creativity. Introduced in 2016’s entry, these contracts are designed to be high-stakes, tension-filled affairs. For that reason, players can only attempt each mission once.
Bean played Ned Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones and Boromir in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The British actor is famous for dying on screen, and Hitman 2 promises to be no exception.
“We are very proud to partner with the talented Sean Bean on the first Elusive Target mission in Hitman 2,” said Hakan Abrak, IO Interactive’s Studio Head.
Abrak stated that the new mission “is one of many updates, features, modes and franchise firsts coming to Hitman 2, making the next chapter in our ever-expanding world of assassination a richer game for our passionate community and newcomers to the series.”
Elusive Targets injected replayability into 2016’s episodic entry, adding an extra challenge between content drops. However, for Hitman 2, the company has moved to a more traditional model. As a result, we don’t yet know how the Elusive Target missions will ultimately change to reflect the release schedule.
Hitman 2 will also feature a 1-vs-1 mode in which players will hunt down a target while competing for the best kill against another assassin. IO appears poised to add future competitive modes after release.
The Undying Comes to Hitman 2
IO and Warner Bros. introduced Bean’s character Mark Faba to the world today via a live-action trailer. Faba is an MI5 agent turned assassin for hire, bearing the moniker “The Undying”—a reference to his penchant for cheating death. “The Undying” is also the title of the mission.
In the trailer, Faba talks to (and ultimately, assassinates) his therapist. After the hit, Faba turns to the camera to address series protagonist, Agent 47. The chrome-domed assassin has been watching the action on a security monitor from another room. Hopefully, the mission will also reveal some information on the history between these two characters.
Hitman 2 is slated for a November 13 release. Faba will enter the scene a week later on November 20. IO’s latest will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
