A full breakdown of the 2.21 update can be found on Io’s website. The update has plenty in the way of bug fixes, QoL changes, and other tweaks, but that’s just the start. Ghost Mode has been enhanced and expanded on multiple fronts thanks to the following additions:

  • The Santa Fortuna location is now available for Ghost Mode, joining the existing Miami location.
  • Four new emotes allow competing players to congratulate (or taunt) each other during a Ghost Mode match.
  • New items enable Ghost Mode players to directly disrupt their opponents’ efforts. These items include a freeze grenade, flash grenade, proximity explosive, and outfit manipulator.
  • Four new target variations (for a total of five) bring some variety to Ghost Mode matches.
  • A new Phantom Assassin challenge involves eliminating a total of 100 Ghost Mode targets. Completing the challenge unlocks a unique Phantom Suit for Agent 47.

Along with the Ghost Mode improvements, update 2.21 also adds in new Silent Assassin functionality. Io has revised and polished the rules and parameters which determine if a Silent Assassin rating is earned. Also, a new Silent Assassin Tracker provides at-a-glance Silent Assassin status notifications.

The Silent Assassin Tracker appears as an icon next to the player’s mini-map. As long as the icon is present, Silent Assassin is obtainable. The icon will also turn red to indicate a comprising event that’s reversable. For example, if a camera spots the player, the icon will turn red. If the player then destroys the camera recording, the icon reverts back to green.

Along with the April update launch, Io has revealed what’s coming to Hitman 2 throughout 2019.
